This course is a hands-on, project-based introduction to publishing and collaborating in the cloud with Power BI Service.
We’ll start with a quick intro, explore the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI ecosystems, then dive into each stage of the workflow, including connecting to data, building reports and dashboards, and collaborating with other users.
Throughout the course you’ll be playing the role of a data analyst for Maven Inspectional Services, a restaurant health inspection agency. Your objective is to use the skills you develop throughout the course to build scalable reports and deliver insights across the organization.
We’ll explore the Power BI landscape and interface, review common user personas, and practice creating new workspaces, then connect to data from multiple sources, set up gateways and dataflows, and explore real-world automation tools.
Next we’ll visualize our data with reports and dashboards, and introduce powerful tools like data-driven alerts, quick insights, natural language queries, and the Power BI mobile app.
Finally, we’ll review options for publishing and sharing workspaces & apps, configure custom row-level security rules, and explore common administration roles and settings.
By the end of the course you’ll have a deep, practical understanding of Power BI Service, along with the skills and confidence to apply these tools on your own.
